Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition will release on consoles with the 2.0.5 patch, but for now it is unsure whether developer Blizzard Entertainment will continue to support it with future non-essential patches.

The news comes from the Diablo 3 forums on Battle.net, where an official blue post by Community Manager Grimiku points out that the company is still undecided on the details of if and how Diablo 3 Ultimate Evil Edition will be supported after its launch.

"We're still working out all the details regarding if and how Ultimate Evil Edition will be supported post-launch (e.g. will we patch the game after it ships? if yes, should we only patch to fix bugs and address critical game issues, or should we patch in new content as well? at what frequency should we patch?), so we don't have an answer for you right now," he says.

He also provides official confirmation that Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition will land on all platforms with all the updates up to and including 2.0.5, and that the company plans to add a further update in order to also deliver Patch 2.0.6 to the consoles.

"That said, I can confirm that UEE will ship on all platforms with all updates included up to Patch 2.0.5, and that there will likely be a 'Day 1' patch to add in Patch 2.0.6 content, too. As we move closer to ship and finalize our post-launch patching plans, we'll be sure to keep you updated," Grimiku states.

What that means is that although the game will receive any critical updates necessary, the development team is so far undecided whether or not they will release any additional content, such as the one in the upcoming Patch 2.1.0, that is currently in testing on PC.

Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition is the first version of the acclaimed role-playing game landing on next-gen platforms, and the PS4 edition will include a special crossover dungeon that contains enemies from Naughty Dog's action adventure game The Last of Us, in the form of several of the fungus-riddled infected.

Furthermore, Ultimate Evil Edition also brings a bunch of new mechanics to the game, such as the Nemesis system, a feature that allows you to avenge your friend's deaths by taking down the monster that killed them, as well as the Apprentice mode that enables lower-level characters to be scaled up and enjoy the same content as their higher-level friends.

Diablo 3: Ultimate Evil Edition is coming to the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms, scheduled to land on August 19, adding the game's first expansion released this March, Reaper of Souls, and all the patches that are currently live on the PC version of the action role-playing game.
