Blizzard has confirmed that the team behind Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, its recently-released online trading card game, has doubled in size, reaching over 30 in order to better react to fan feedback and keep improving the experience.

Hearthstone came out last year as a closed beta and quickly impressed fans through the simple-to-understand yet hard-to-master gameplay, allowing players to battle in trading card duels online easily and without any complicated systems.

The studio attributed the success to the small and lean team that made the game, often bragging that around 15 people worked on it at any given time.

Now, after launch, Production Director Jason Chayes has revealed that the team size has grown exponentially in order to better react to player feedback and to ensure that the game can grow at a steady pace.

"Definitely, the team has grown," he told GamesIndustry. "I think we had been for most of our development at around 15 people. We're now over 30 so we are responding to some of the increasing features and the things that players in our community are looking for, which are things that we're excited about as well so we're trying to scale with that."

Hearthstone just saw its first story-based DLC appear, in the form of Curse of Naxxramas, and it seems that a second expansion is already on the way.
