Blizzard's Heroes of the Storm team has confirmed that it has plenty of characters that it would like to see in the actual multiplayer online battle arena title, although some are easier to include than others.

Heroes of the Storm was finally re-revealed to the world last year, after being in development under the Blizzard Heroes and All-Stars names.

Quite a few different characters have been confirmed, including four that were presented at PAX East over the weekend.

Blizzard also held a panel to answer questions from fans and has posted some of the answers on its official website.

Of course, hero variety was a big talking point and Blizzard has confirmed that it already has a big list of characters that might become heroes in the new game.

"Our library of Blizzard characters is pretty massive. We’ve got a very long list of potential heroes that we’d like to implement, and we do want to add many more heroes to the game than are present right now. We’re ready to do more," the studio said.

"There may be a few heroes who you might not entirely familiar with if you haven’t played the game they’re from (Stitches from World of Warcraft, for example,) but we can dip into all of our universes to continually create new heroes."

Of course, adding new characters means making sure that they don't disturb the balance of the game or provide exploits against others. Fortunately, Blizzard has a special team dedicated to balancing and, thanks to the community, it's sure that feedback will be offered.

"It’s going to be a lot of work for us, but we have a team of balance guys working on this night and day, and we’re pretty confident at the moment. We’re not afraid to admit when we’re wrong, see what the community has to say, and make changes.

"The editor also lets us make changes on a hero by hero basis. For example, the way Sgt. Hammer roots herself basically attracts skillshots from her enemies. If we need to fix something about that, we can adjust her talents to give her more survivability while she’s sieged up."

Last but not least, the studio emphasized that adding new heroes is always challenging, especially since some are really huge in proportions, like Deathwing, but it hopes to find solutions soon enough.

Heroes of the Storm is currently in a closed technical alpha stage and will be released into a beta later in the year.
