Lots of players exploited the easy missions and gained unfair XP and gold

Diablo 3 received last week a new series of hot fixes designed to implement a few tweaks to the game, including the removal of certain "easy" bounties from the RPG's Adventure mode, and now Blizzard explains just why it came to such a conclusion.

Diablo 3 launched back in 2012, but with 2014's Reaper of Souls expansion the game got a new lease of life, thanks mainly to the fresh Adventure mode, which allowed players to complete bounties across the five story acts, as well as go on other missions, separate from the plot-themed ones.

Easy bounties had to go

Now that patch 2.1.0 was released a few weeks ago, which brought the Seasons mechanic, Blizzard has started examining the state of the possible bounties that can appear in the game and found that some were extremely easy to do on high difficulty levels, as they had no combat or some that could be avoided by running past the enemies.

As such, after seeing players in the first Diablo 3 Season exploit these bounties to progress faster, Blizzard rolled out a hot fix designed to remove said bounties – The Matriarch's Bones, The Jar of Souls, The Miser's Will, and A Miner's Gold.

The bounties have been removed from the list of missions that can appear both in the regular game and in its first Season, and will return after they're modified. The actual events can still appear in the story mode.

Blizzard reveals the reasoning behind the decision

According to the studio, because of the exploitation, the fun factor of the dungeon crawling RPG dropped considerably and people weren't enjoying the experience.

"In Season 1, many players were able to quickly level their heroes and earn a coveted rank on the 'Race to the Top' leaderboard exclusively by running the bounties in question. While we won't be removing any Conquest credit or ranking from players who chose to use this particular technique, we will be making changes to these bounties for future Seasons," one of Blizzard's representatives says on the Battle.net forums.

"The desire here is to help promote an environment where the most efficient way to play is also the most varied (and ideally the most fun too). With this, one of our goals for Seasonal Conquests is to encourage players to try out different tactics and explore different play styles, so we will be evaluating all Season 1 Conquests with that goal in mind and making changes for Season 2 as needed."

According to the studio, the bounties will be tweaked and are set to make a comeback before Season 2 launches in the future. Unfortunately, no date has been offered.
