You could be playing against someone on a tablet or PC

One of the most popular card games of the moment, Hearthstone will soon make its debut on smartphones. Although the game has already been released in the mobile ecosystem, Blizzard only made it available on Android and iOS updates.

As many of you probably know by now, Hearthstone is an online game, so it requires players to have a stable Internet connection.

That means that if you're not connected to a Wi-Fi network when the game gets released on smartphones, it might eat quite a lot of your 4G monthly allowance.

Even if Blizzard hasn't been specific on how much data it might use, we doubt that it will be too light on that one since it features quite a lot of animations.

The information revealed by Hearthstone lead designer Eric Dodds to Gamespot points out that smartphone owners shouldn't play the game while on the move unless they have unlimited data monthly allowance.

The next expansion will bring 31 new cards

Another interesting piece of information is the fact that, when the smartphone version of Hearthstone is released, it will feature cross-platform play.

This means that, when you start a new game of Hearthstone on a smartphone, you could be playing against someone on a tablet or on a PC.

“It will be your exact same account, so all your cards on tablet or PC will be available on your phone too. When you start a match on a phone, you could be playing someone on another phone, someone on a tablet, on a PC, who knows? It's all one big ecosystem,” said Hearthstone lead designer Eric Dodds.

Hearthstone for Android and iOS smartphones will be launched in the coming months. Until then though, Blizzard will release the next major expansion for the game, Blackrock Mountain, which will add 31 new cards.
