Optimization update promises to “significantly improve performance for the NVIDIA 9400M”

Blizzard Entertainment has released an official statement acknowledging “performance” issues with Diablo III on some Macintosh configurations. The developer has posted an extensive guide for workarounds, promising to release a software update to improve performance.

Over at the Battle.net forums, Blizzard tells Diablo III fans, “We've been closely monitoring community feedback since the launch of Diablo III.”

According to the video game developer, “the top issue for our Mac players is performance, especially on low-end cards such as the NVIDIA 9400M.”

As the company is working on “an optimization update” which should “significantly improve performance for the NVIDIA 9400M,” Mac gamers with dual graphics cards are offered a guide to improve their experience.

First off, MacBooks using NVIDIA 9400M/9600 GT must be set for “higher performance.” According to Blizzard, “this should resolve many performance issues you may experience.”

Following the software update release, other graphic cards will also see “a modest but noticeable increase in FPS,” according to Blizzard, which promises to deliver this fix “in the near future.”

“We want all our players to be able to fully enjoy conquering evil in Diablo III. We will provide further information as it becomes available,” Blizzard concludes.
