After launching update 2.1.1 for Diablo 3 a few weeks ago, Blizzard has confirmed that it’s also included a small change to the treasure goblins, which now show up with a special icon and a portal on the map, even if they're not attacked by players just yet.

Diablo 3 launched back in 2012 and has since reached new platforms, such as PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, while getting an expansion in the form of the Reaper of Souls one, which brought forth new modes, a new story act and playable class, and much more.

Many updates have appeared until now

Since the debut of the add-on, Blizzard has offered fresh updates to the game, which were designed to fix bugs, improve the whole dungeon crawling experience, and offer new challenges, like the Greater Rifts.

The latest patch, which took the game to version 2.1.1, went live a short time ago and Blizzard only confirmed a few changes relating to classes like the Witch Doctor, but also to different items or to the Rift system.

A small modification has just been confirmed

There were also plenty of smaller things included in the update that weren't found in the official changelog, and now one of Blizzard's employees has confirmed on the Battle.net forums that some affect the treasure goblins randomly found throughout the game's levels.

More specifically, the goblins now have a special icon when they're first spotted by players on the map, even if they're not attacked immediately. In addition, they have an already opened portal, so that they're even more visible, but this one closes as soon as the poor creature is attacked.

"The change to Treasure Goblin visibility by adding a portal graphic on first spawn and a mini-map icon was indeed a quality of life change meant to help you spot them more easily," the Blizzard employee explains.

Goblins are now more visible

Previously, players needed eagle eyes to spot the goblins in a level and a special icon appeared only when they attacked them.

"Since this change wasn’t included in the patch notes, it’s caused some confusion among players, and I wanted to add to the voices providing answers. Hope that helps (and that the new graphics make it easier to find those loot-laden gobbies)!"

Besides these main updates, Blizzard has already rolled out quite a few different hotfixes for Diablo 3, tweaking some mechanics for the Greater Rifts, while more improvements to the drop rate of crafting materials from monsters are also set to appear soon enough for the role-playing dungeon crawler.
