Blizzard, the company behind successful franchises like StarCraft, World of Warcraft or Diablo, has just issued a statement concerning the recent World of StarCraft mod project, which appeared from a developer in the community.

There's been quite a lot of debate recently about a World of StarCraft mod project, which was developed by a single guy, Ryan Winzell, who released a video of his project on YouTube.

The video, detailing the pre-alpha stage of the project, was quickly taken down at the request of Blizzard, so it seemed that the company was cracking down on Winzell with its legal team.

The developer then made his own statement, saying that he only wishes to honor Blizzard's franchises by combining the characters of StarCraft II with the MMORPG elements of World of Warcraft, and that he is open to talks about the fate of the project.

The company has now released a statement about the recent events, saying that, "It was never our intention to stop development on the mod."

"With the name so closely resembling that of World of Warcraft, we wanted to discuss the title of the mod with the developer, and as part of our routine procedure, we contacted YouTube to request the video be removed while that discussion took place."

The company is even interested in sitting down with the developer and seeing if he can be a part of the Blizzard development team and continue working on his mod or on other projects that Blizzard currently has in the creation stage.

"We were also curious about the project and wanted to discuss with the developer what the mod entailed."

Blizzard always made sure that the community was satisfied, so it's great to hear that it won't take any legal action against Winzell and is trying to make sure that the mod will live on, even if it's going to have another name.
