Video game developer Blizzard has issued an official statement about the launch period for Diablo III, assuring players that they are watching the way the game evolves and that they are doing everything in their power to improve the experience of the player base.

The statement says, “We’d like to extend a very sincere thank you to everyone who joined the global Diablo III launch celebrations this week, as well as to everyone who was ready to jump into Sanctuary the moment the game went live.”

It adds, “As many of you are aware, technical issues occurring within hours after the game’s launch led to players experiencing error messages and difficulty logging in. These issues cropped up again last night for the Americas and Europe servers. Despite very aggressive projections, our preparations for the launch of the game did not go far enough.”

Blizzard has introduced some humor in the official statement, mentioning the failing of the mortal infrastructure and the delay of the crusade, but the company is clear on the fact that it should have been better prepared to handle the number of players who were ready to play Diablo III on launch night.

The real money Auction Houses were initially set to be introduced on May 22, but Blizzard now says that it will delay them to a yet unknown date, in order to make sure that all problems with the game are ironed out before giving gamers a chance to use real-world funds in order to get their hands on better items.

Blizzard is also investigating the problems some players have been reporting with the achievement system and plans to offer an update once it has identified the cause and a potential fix.

Diablo III was launched on May 15 and analysts estimate the game will sell more than 3 million copies on the PC during its first month on sale.
