14 DAY TRIAL // Blitzkrieg 3, a new strategy game developed by Nival Interactive, will be getting a Linux release, at least these are the latest reports from the German media.
The Blitzkrieg games are best known for their historical accuracy and for the fact that they are some of the few that are actually real-time tactical titles, meaning that users don't have any resources and they have to make do with the units made available.
These titles also featured gameplay that was way ahead of its time, like differentiated damage model, realistic war conditions, and extremely fragile infantry. The first one in the series is still a reference for today's games and that says a lot.
Blitzkrieg 3 for Linux is definitely something to watch out for
The Linux platform doesn't have many RTS games and any quality title in this genre would mean a great deal for Linux. It's still difficult to say that Blitzkrieg 3 will be a success, but they it's built by the same developers and we can only hope that they will not let the fans down.

According to gtuxtv.blogspot.de, the guys from Nival Interactive are also planning a Linux version, which should be made available after the official launch of the title, which is scheduled for the first half of 2015. No other information has been provided and there is no indication that it's also landing on Steam.
From the looks of it, Nival is doing the porting process for Blitzkrieg 3 in-house, but that remains to be seen. In any case, we'll keep the users apprised with any news about this interesting game.
