14 DAY TRIAL // Owners of BlackBerry Z10 handsets can now enjoy a new natively developed application on their devices, namely Blippar, currently available for download for them as version 1.0.
Blippar was launched on BlackBerry Z10 as a “lens” application that takes advantage of the handset’s camera and enables users to receive information about the world around them.
The application will work with any real-world item that carries with it “blipp” information, and will bring to the phone’s screen a variety of info on it.
“Welcome to Blippar – a free magic ‘lens’ which uses your device's camera to ‘blipp’ and instantly unlock the world around you with exclusive information, entertainment and virtual experiences,” the app’s description reads.
“‘Blipp’ any real world item carrying the 'blipp' instruction – such as magazines, newspapers, billboards, travel cards, logos or even grocery products. By simply holding your phone up in blippar mode to look at the image, it will magically jump to life with an exclusive content experience.”
The app also packs augmented reality capabilities, with information and experiences being overlaid on the real-world image or object.
However, the app could also simply deliver a web link for the user to watch a trailer or visit a website to learn more on said object, straight from the handset. Downloadable files can also be attached to these objects via the “blipp” instruction.

Blippar will also enable users to browse through an in-app catalogue to learn more on what the new interactive mobile platform has to offer to them.
