Blinkx accepts video clips from amateur and professional users who want to make their creations known.
After the video file is sent to Blinkx, the search engine will transform it to Flash format and include the date, title, name of the owner and other relevant information.
Once this stage is concluded, the video clips are posted online so that they can be viewed by anyone.
However, the service, called MyBlinkx.tv, has other features as well.
The users will be able to see their own video clips and also define channels based on the searched keywords. This way, for certain keywords, such as "hurricane Katrina", their channel will contain all the related video clips.
By storing a cookie on the user's hard disk, Blinkx.tv is capable of memorizing the channels defined by a user and update them as new video clips matching the keyword appear.
If the cookies are erased, the channels will disappear, but Blinkx.tv is working on a password-based membership system.
The service currently accepts only private video clips. Myblinkx.tv might soon introduce commercial content too, provided that an agreement with the copyright owners is reached.
