Joseph Blatter, the head of International Football Federation (FIFA), burst into criticism towards European clubs, concerning corruption, racism and player's rights, as well as the high number of matches in the European competitions.
He brought into discussion the "Task Force" FIFA Report, which will be made public on June the 8th: "This task force is tackling a number of serious problems affecting football today: corruption, gambling money, doping,
multiple ownership of clubs, players' rights, the congested international calendar, the loss of identity of clubs and a scourge that is still with us, racism."
As racism is concerned, Blatter added: "In the area of racism, we have recently put in place a measure whereby offending clubs will be deducted points. Over the years, FIFA has come to realize that financial penalties have not been sufficient. We will be vigilant in applying these new sanctions. Let me repeat that the greatness of football resides precisely in the fact that it is a sport that makes no distinction between the color of people's skin, their sex or income. That is why I believe so-called supporters, who display racist tendencies, are the negation of football."
He also reminded that it is "inhuman" to have that much football in club's football. The international agenda is over the limit and does not allow supporters to have a normal championship. That's why FIFA`s main concern is to shorten domestic competitions. He also criticized the Bosman law, which allows European clubs to have more than 11 players from different nationality than the country in which the team activates.
Blatter`s speech follows the president's line of critics towards big European clubs, mainly represented by the G14 - 18 big-budget European clubs, who try to initiate a supremacy in World Football, above FIFA.
