A new version of Blaq, the popular Twitter client for Research In Motion’s BlackBerry PlayBook, is now available for download, namely 1.8.1.

The tablet PC did not arrive on shelves with a native Twitter client inside, but Blaq does the job beautifully, those who took it for a spin claim.

In fact, it appears that things have gone from good to better lately, courtesy of a long set of updates that the application’s developer has been pushing out lately.

The latest version of the mobile application was packed with a great deal of enhancements, being capable of offering a new, better experience to its users.

For example, it arrives with threaded direct messages, and also offers users the possibility to tweet from more than a single account at once (tap the avatar next to the compose area to select accounts to tweet from Go to user).

The release notes for the new Blaq for BlackBerry PlayBook 1.8.1 also include (via CrackBerry):

- Muting - Mute users, clients (e.g. GetGlue, twitterfeed) and hashtags - Adjustable font size for tweet compose Portrait list view - Portrait search view - Shows if the user is following current user on the tweet card - Hashtags are automatically appended to replies - Tweet card hides compose after tweet is sent - “Tweet from @user” when copying tweet - Change the location of trending topics

The mobile client features a sleek interface and stunning design and provides users with an intuitive interface to stay connected at all times with their Twitter accounts.

With real-time Twitter userstream support packed inside, the app proves a great option for all microbloggers out there who own a PlayBook. It also features in-app notifications, web and images previews, the option to translate tweets, as well as various customization features.

Weighing 1,407 KB, the new Blaq for BlackBerry PlayBook 1.8.1 was made available for download through RIM’s official software portal, the BlackBerry App World.
