Country singer Blake Shelton is one of the four mentors / judges on NBC’s The Voice, a gig that has brought him millions of new fans. For them and for those he already had, Blake Shelton sits down with Parade to speak about what may be in store on the show.

In doing so, Shelton offers a rare glimpse at one of hottest shows of the moment, which also happens to be extremely plagued by rumors of diva antics and daily feuds.

They do fight occasionally and there’s definitely a lot of teasing, says the country star, but what’s being reported in the media is a clear exaggeration of what actually happens behind closed doors.

“We joke and make fun of each other to each other’s faces. I make fun of Cee Lo for dressing like a peacock and I make fun of Christina for being a diva,” Blake reveals.

But that’s not to say that the four of them don’t make an awesome team.

“I think that’s why we all get along, because we know it’s just in fun. We’re talking about one episode where we all want to dress up like Cee Lo. We haven’t gotten Christina on board yet, but she’ll normally do anything Adam tells her, so…” Blake jokes.

He also says that it’s just now, after the first season has wrapped, that he realizes the amazing opportunity offered to him when he was asked to be part of the team behind The Voice.

“It’s only now that I realize how big a hit it is. If I get recognized in New York, there’s something going on. People are looking at me like a new artist, and it’s exciting,” Blake says, stressing how grateful he is for the chance he’s been given.

“It’s great because all I ever wanted to be is a country singer, and this is the type of show that magnifies what I do. It’s a dream job, it really is,” he adds.

In the same Parade interview, Shelton also opens up a bit about his divorce in 2006 and how he thought he’d never recover from it, and the recent wedding to Miranda Lambert – and how there were shots of moonshine available at the party.
