A second product will debut as well, Production Camera 4K

Blackmagic is a company name that wasn't heard of too much before 2012, but it looks like the photo and video equipment maker is determined to make a name for itself as quickly as possible.

We don't really have any new products bearing its brand to talk about though, as Blackmagic hasn't exactly launched any.

Not since the Cinema Camera and the DeckLink HD Studio came out in any case, and those appeared all the way back in September, or earlier than even that.

It doesn't help the company's case that the Cinema Camera got delayed due to Sensor Flaws.

It is the Cinema Camera that is making the news again, or rather a miniature version of it if we're reading the signs correctly.

During the recent National Association of Broadcasters trade show (NAB 2013), the company put up signs for the Pocket Cinema Camera and the Production Camera 4K.

Neither product was actually on display, oddly enough. The signs were more along the lines of placeholders, or “promissory notes,” to use the term loosely.

The Production Camera 4K will probably be a bit superior to the normal Cinema Camera, with a Super 35 sensor, a Thunderbolt Connector, an SSD recorder, a touchscreen LCD, an EF lens mount and a global shutter.

These are mere assumptions, however, based on the design of the aforementioned Cinema Camera. To confirm them, or get them dispelled, we will have to wait for the device to actually make its debut, and we have no idea when that will happen. At least we know the price: $3,995 / 3,070-3,995 Euro.

Meanwhile, the Pocket Cinema Camera ($995 / 764-95 Euro)  will, obviously, be an understated iteration of the original, hopefully with a lower price too (unless the miniaturization comes with its own price premium). We'll keep an eye out for updates.
