Zombie Studios, the developer of Blacklight: Retribution, has revealed that it wants to bring the first-person shooter to other platforms and highlighted that free-to-play titles are becoming more popular on consoles.

Blacklight: Retribution will receive its Onslaught update on the PC platform via Steam tomorrow, February 27, so Softpedia talked with Zombie Studios' Senior Producer, Mark Hill, about the possibility of seeing free-to-play titles extend to consoles, particularly next-generation ones like the PlayStation 4 or Xbox 720.

"I can’t really speak to Sony’s or Microsoft’s plans about more free-to-play titles on XBLA or PSN, but you can already see the beginnings of more free-to-play titles on consoles with titles like DC Universe Online and Free Realms," he told us.

"What I can say is that the free-to-play model has been very successful for Blacklight: Retribution and that we are interested in discussing the possibility of introducing Blacklight to other platforms as we have already done with Steam."

Blacklight, as of yet, is still a Steam exclusive and enjoys a fair bit of popularity, remaining for over a year in the top 50 most played titles on the service.
