About the same offer as Telus and Bell

MTS (Manitoba Telecom Services) Canada recently announced that it will start shipping Blackberry's Storm2 9550 smartphone starting this week. The touchscreen device finally makes its way to MTS customers, after it has been deployed by Telus and Bell operators.

Especially manufactured for North American market, Blackberry Storm2 9550 features a 3.25-inch touchscreen (360 x 480 pixels) with 65K colors, and accelerometer sensor for auto-rotate. The device is working on MTS's 1xEVDO Rev.A 800/1900 MHz network and is capable of EV-DO RevA 3.1Mbps for data transfers.

Some of the highlight of the smartphone include: Enhanced SurePress touch screen; Portrait SureType and Multi-tap or QWERTY landscape and portrait keyboard options; International data roaming, can roam globally on GSM/GPRS networks; Supports multiple email accounts; 3.2 Megapixel Camera with flash, auto focus, and image stabilization; Video Recorder; Text Messaging Capable; Media Messaging Capable; BlackBerry Instant Messaging; HTML web browsing; Pre-Installed BlackBerry App World Storefront; Tethered data capabilities; Media player; BlackBerry Media Sync; 3.5mm stereo headset capable; Wi-Fi Support (802.11 b/g); Bluetooth 2.1 including the following profiles – Mono/Stereo Headset, Handsfree, Phone Book Access Profile, Serial Port Profile. Stereo Audio (A2DP/AVCRP), DUN; 2 GB onboard memory; Supports microSD expandable memory; Built in GPS-Assisted BlackBerry Maps; Includes Desktop Software that allows user to synchronize calendar, address book, tasks and memos between smartphone and desktop.

Blackberry Storm2 9550 is available through MTS Canada operator and can be bought for as low as $199.99 with 36-month contract and minimum $39.99 Voice & Data Package. Other plans offered by the operator include: 24-month contract – $ 299.99 and 12-month contract – $ 524.99. Combinations can include select Voice Calling Plan with Email and Surf feature or Talk, Email and Surf plans.
