BlackBerry Storm 2 (aka BlackBerry Storm 9550) and Blackberry Tour 9630 are the latest hot devices from the Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion. While the latter has been just launched on a series of carriers in the US and Canada, the former still awaits to become official, yet it seems that it won't be long before that will happen.

According to the latest news around the Web, Verizon's inventory system already has Blackberry Storm 2 dummies, and the fact that the handset will be called 9550 has been confirmed as well, which suggests that the release date should be close enough. Of course, it has happened before for the mock-ups to get in the inventory much earlier than the actual device, yet the handset has been also spotted listed for pre-order, which strengthens the idea that it is getting close to release.

The phone can be seen on MobileCity, where it features a price tag of $649.99 unlocked. For what it's worth, the handset should also come to the market via a wide range of carriers, just as the Tour did this weekend, and the list is reportedly including Rogers and AT&T, which should receive a GSM Storm 2, as well as Verizon. At the same time, we should note that the Storm 2 listed for pre-order is the CDMA iteration, so other carriers should also have it.

The second iteration of RIM's touch screen device is expected to make a lot of users out there rejoice, as it has been already reported to come with a better display, one that would eliminate some of the glitches that the original Storm had when launched on the market, while also sporting a long-expected feature for the Storm, Wi-Fi connectivity. The handset has been confirmed by the maker, yet an official announcement on its release date hasn't been made until now.

As for the BlackBerry Tour 9630, we learn that Verizon has just released into the wild the OS 4.7.1.40 firmware for it, which doesn't come at the greatest moment, it seems. Given the fact that the handset has been launched only three days ago, the logical move would have been to include the firmware with it right from the start. Most probably, the software was not ready for launch earlier, yet it is available for download now, and those willing to get it should head to the carrier's site.
