It was widely known that the Blackberry 8800 would be heading to US wireless carrier Cingular/At&t, and it has finally arrived, now being available to Cingular customers.

The handheld is pretty much what one would expect, especially after a period of time when rumors and leaks revealed most of the features it would include. Thus it comes with quad-band GSM and EDGE support, Bluetooth 2.0 for connectivity, a large screen
with a 320 x 240 pixel resolution and a QWERTY keyboard.

Sadly for some people, the Blackberry 8800 doesn't pack any 3G capabilities, WiFi or a built-in camera, but it fully makes up for this with a whole bunch of capabilities that make email composing, messaging or organizer use more easy and convenient.

So while it might disappoint some users, the business users it targets should consider this a highly functional and useful device. Other features include automatic delivery of enterprise or personal mail, integrated GPS navigation with Telenav support, media player with support for several audio file formats including MP3 and video formats.

And to show that the Blackberry 8800 can also be a fun device, users can listen to music with little compromise and will be able to store a satisfying number of tracks with the help of the MicroSD card slot that supports memory cards of up to 2GB. The handheld will last up to 5 hours worth of talk time or 24 hours on standby.

As was expected, the rumor regarding the Blackberry's mid-February release became reality, and the handset can now be spotted on Cingular's website, available for $500 list or $300 after the $50 mail-in rebate on a two-year contract.
