]Research in Motion finally announced the Blackberry 8800 a few days ago and the only thing left to know would be what carriers are going to be offering the handheld.

In the US, it looks like it will be heading on to Cingular, now known as At&t, later this month. What's beyond doubt is that people from Canada will also be getting their fair share of the Blackberry 8800, through Roger Wireless that has officially announced that it will be the only Canadian carrier to provide the handheld.

The Blackberry 8800, exclusive to Roger Wireless in Canada, is expected to show up on retail and business channels in March.

The quad-band GSM/EDGE device comes with a QVGA resolution TFT LCD, 64MB internal memory, a full QWERTY keyboard, voice activated dialing, Bluetooth for connectivity and speakerphone. A MicroSD card slot is also provided, so users will not need to worry about storage for their files anymore.

Compared to the Pearl, the 8800 does not feature a camera, but considering that this device is mostly meant for business purposes, the lack of a built-in camera is not really a surprise.

According to Rim, the handheld was designed to allow users to do their best work from wherever they choose, providing them with email, phone, web browsing and instant messaging.

Also, RIM has managed to throw in a couple of extra features that are bound to only make the device more appealing in the eyes of customers. It comes with built-in GPS, a media player and high-capacity battery due to which the handheld will last up to 5 hours of talk time or 22 days on standby.
