Rumors are running rife that the Blackberry 8700 PDA Cell Phone is in testing now and will be out in October or November 2005. It will be offered by Verizon, Cingular and Sprint/Nextel. The code name for Blackberry 8700 is Electron.

They don’t confirm (or deny) any specs, but last we heard the 8700 was supposedly going to have built-in GPS and come in an EV-DO version for Verizon
and Sprint. It also comes in an EDGE version for Cingular.

The Blackberry 8700 PDA is not a huge step forward in terms of design (the EV-DO’s the big deal here), but it’s definitely a smidge less clunky than your typical BlackBerry. The device, however, will not be Wi-Fi or VoIP compatible - and no camera either.

Here are some Blackberry 8700 Cell Phone features:

EVDO +BB and EDGE + BB device
GPS and IM built-in
Fast processor + 64MB RAM
More native and attachment viewing
Classic form factor + sleeker design, speakerphone
