Canadian mobile phone maker BlackBerry is getting ready to shut down its BBM Music service, although it was made available only about a year and a half ago.

The service will be discontinued on June 2, and the company has already started to inform BlackBerry users on the matter, letting them know that April is the last month during which they will be billed, a post on CrackBerry notes.

“BBM Music service will be discontinued as of June 2, 2013. For paying customers, April is the last month that you will be billed. In May, as your BBM contacts stop using the service, songs in your playlists will begin to turn grey and will no longer be available,” the company said.

BlackBerry also provided users with details on how they can remove the BBM Music app from devices, and suggested alternatives to the service, such as Rdio.
