Today, Canadian mobile phone maker BlackBerry has officially announced the availability of its BlackBerry Z3 in Malaysia, during a special launch event in the country.

The company has announced that this device will arrive on shelves in Malaysia starting July 7, and that it will sport a price tag of RM699 ($217/€160).

Moreover, soyacincau reports that wireless carriers in the country are also set to add the smartphone to their offerings, and that it might not be too long before they provide specific info on the matter.

For those out of the loop, we should note that BlackBerry Z3 was made official in early 2014 as the cheapest handset coming from the Canadian vendor.

The company said at the time that it had designed the phone to fit the needs of users on a budget, and that it would mainly target emerging markets with it.

The phone was released in Indonesia first, where BlackBerry also launched a Limited Edition variant of the phone, called Jakarta.

Made official in Malaysia today, the mobile phone is also expected to debut in India later this week, also priced very affordably, rumor has it.

As a refresher, we should note that the BlackBerry Z3 was made official with a 5-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a qHD (960 x 540 pixels) resolution at a 220ppi pixels density.

Moreover, the handset arrives on the market with a 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm MSM8230 processor inside, as well as with 1.5GB of RAM, which should ensure appealing performance capabilities considering the handset’s market range.

Additionally, the smartphone features 8GB of internal memory, paired with a microSD card slot, which can accommodate cards of up to 32GB in size.

On the back, the BlackBerry Z3 sports a 5-megapixel camera that can deliver full HD video recording capabilities. A 1.1MP front camera will allow users to easily make video calls while on the go, while also offering support for 720p videos.

The mobile phone also arrives on shelves with Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC capabilities, as well as with a 2500mAh battery that should deliver more than decent usage times to all users.

The BlackBerry 10 handset has already proved highly popular in Indonesia, and might suffer a similar fate in Malaysia as well. One way or the other, the handset should become available for purchase on other markets in the not-too-distant future, so keep an eye on this space to learn more on the matter.
