Today, Canadian mobile phone maker BlackBerry has officially announced the upcoming availability of BlackBerry Z3 in India, its cheapest BlackBerry 10-based handset to date.

The mobile phone has been already put on pre-order in the country, and those interested in grabbing it before anyone else will be able to reserve it until July 2.

According to fonearena, the phone’s official price tag in the country will be Rs. 15,990 ($266/€195), which is not too bad for a mid-range smartphone. However, gadgetstouse says that it will actually be put up for sale at only Rs. 11,999 ($199/€146).

For those out of the loop, we should note that the BlackBerry Z3 smartphone was announced at the beginning of this year with a focus on emerging markets.

However, BlackBerry began to push it to shelves only several weeks ago, starting with Indonesia. This week, the company has kicked off the global rollout for the device, with India being one of the first markets to receive it.

The mobile phone comes to the market with a 5-inch touchscreen display capable of delivering a qHD (960 x 540 pixels) resolution, as well as with a 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor inside.

Moreover, the handset was announced with Adreno 305 graphics, 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of internal memory, as well as with a microSD memory card slot for storage expansion purposes.

On the back, the new mobile phone sports a 5-megapixel camera with auto-focus and LED flash, capable of recording videos in full HD resolution. Moreover, the BlackBerry Z3 sports a 1.1MP front camera for making video calls while on the go.

The specs list of this device also includes support for 3G HSPA+ networks, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, and Bluetooth connectivity, GPS receiver, and a 2500mAh non-removable battery.

“The new BlackBerry Z3 offers consumer engaging user experience with all the features of BlackBerry 10 combined in one powerful smartphone,” Sunil Lalvani, managing director, BlackBerry India, says.

“The BlackBerry Z3 is also the first smartphone to be introduced from our strategic partnership with Foxconn and it further strengthens our commitment to enhance our devices portfolio. BlackBerry Z3 is the ultimate smartphone that gives users more ways to connect, share and communicate, providing the best tool for secure, reliable communications and collaboration with friends, family and co-workers.”

Starting today, mobile phone users in India can pre-order the BlackBerry Z3 in a Black color option, via BlackBerry Stores and other retailers in the country, such as Flipkart and TheMobileStore.
