The smartphone is set to become generally available at AT&T on March 22

Today, mobile phone carrier AT&T has opened the pre-order period for the new BlackBerry Z10 smartphone, after officially confirming its upcoming availability and pricing on Monday.

The carrier provides its customers with the possibility to reserve the new handset at $199.99 with the signing of a two-year contract agreement, while listing the smartphone on its website at $549.99, contract-free.

The wireless carrier also notes that the pre-ordered BlackBerry Z10 devices will be shipped to users on March 20, 2013. The handset is set to become generally available on the operator’s network on March 22.

Z10 is the first smartphone to arrive on shelves with the new BlackBerry 10 operating system loaded on top, while capable of providing users with a series new features and capabilities, as well as with a completely redesigned mobile experience.

Some of the main enhancements packed inside the new BlackBerry 10 platform include:

- The BlackBerry Hub allows you to peek at your inbox from any app without having to stop what you're doing - The smart BlackBerry Keyboard reconfigures itself based on your typing habits - BBM Video with Screen Share shares content and apps right from your device - Time Shift mode lets you create a photo even more perfect than the moment it happened

The BlackBerry Z10 smartphone also sports a 4.2-inch touchscreen display, capable of providing users with a 1280 x 768 pixels resolution, as well as with a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm MSM8960 processor inside.

Furthermore, it features 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of external storage.

The specs list of this handset also includes an 8-megapixel photo snapper with video recording capabilities, a front camera for making video calls, an 1800 mAh removable battery, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, 4G LTE and HSPA+ connectivity, Mobile Hotspot, NFC, and the usual set of sensors.
