Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion is currently gearing up for the launch of some new BlackBerry devices, one of which should be the BlackBerry Touch, also known as the Monaco, or Monza, a handset sporting full touchscreen features.

The mobile phone has been spotted into the wild before, but this seems to be the first time that more detailed info on it emerges, complemented by a series of high-res photos.

Apparently, the new device would be set to arrive on shelves in two different flavors, one that would sport CDMA connectivity and should land at Verizon Wireless as BlackBerry Monaco, and another one with GSM radios inside, which should be released on shelves globally as BlackBerry Monza.

As stated above, this should be a touchscreen device, and the BlackBerry Touch name confirms that, but it might be nothing like the BlackBerry Storm when made available for purchase, it seems.

First of all, the new mobile phone is expected to arrive on shelves without the SurePress technology, which was one of the main problems with the original device, though many users did like it.

However, the new handset would be released free of the said technology, while being much thinner than previous BlackBerry devices, rumor has it.

On top of that, the new BlackBerry Monaco / Monza is expected to run under RIM's BlackBerry OS 6.1, and would require a BlackBerry ID to login to the system, a feature that would be introduced with the new platform version.

The BlackBerry ID would replace the PIN, but the next version of the BlackBerry OS is reportedly going to be very much similar to the BlackBerry OS 6.

While no info on when the new mobile phone would be released emerged for the time being, rumor has it that the BlackBerry Touch might be unveiled in May, at BlackBerry World, along with a series of other handsets from RIM, including the BlackBerry Bold Touch, BlackBerry Curve Touch, or BlackBerry Torch 2.

For the time being, however, all these are mere rumors, and it remains to be seen whether they would pan out or not, so stay tuned for more.
