Canadian mobile phone users now

have the possibility to purchase a new version of the recently released BlackBerry Torch 9800 smartphone from the leading handset vendor Research In Motion, namely a white flavor of the device, which has just gone on sale via Rogers Wireless.

Basically, this would be the same mobile phone as the one unveiled officially during summer, and which was made available for purchase at Rogers several weeks ago, only that it was dressed up in white.

When compared to the original black version of the smartphone, the new white Torch 9800 does look more appealing, and should attract many of those who are interested in the looks of their devices.

Of course, the hardware specs remain the same as in the original, and the same applies to the price tag at which the smartphone was made available for purchase, namely $229.99 upon the signing of a three-year contract agreement with the wireless carrier.

If purchased without a contract, the smartphone would set you back $609.99. However, the operator also put the white Torch on sale on two-year terms, priced at $499.99, as well as on one-year contracts, with a price tag of $559.99 attached to it, the same as with monthly rolling plans.

"For the things that inspire you, the Torch offers a new slider form factor and a redesigned operating system. The new BlackBerry 6 OS offers a fluid interface, improved web browsing, Social Feeds and greater multimedia functionality," the wireless carrier notes on its website.

"When combined with the features BlackBerry is famous for the immediacy of push email, real-time chats with BBM, and of course, the legendary QWERTY keyboard this BlackBerry smartphone enables you to meet inspiration with action, right at your fingertips."

The BlackBerry Torch is the first smartphone that RIM brought to the market with a sliding design, and also the first BlackBerry to pack both a touchscreen display and a QWERTY keyboard.

The handset includes support for 3G networks, Wi-Fi (802.11 b/g/n) and Bluetooth connectivity, 4 GB of internal memory, microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32 GB of additional storage space, a 5.0 MP camera, 3.18-inch display, and a battery that can offer up to 6 hours of talk time.
