Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion is gearing up for the release of new handsets running under its BlackBerry OS 7, and the BlackBerry Torch 9860 smartphone that can be seen in the video embedded below is one of them.

The handset has been spotted into the wild before, and can be seen now in the said leaked video, after emerging in a series of photos that showed it with the AT&T logo all over it.

Apparently, the new device might be unveiled to the world in a matter of weeks, as some wireless carriers, such as bell in Canada, are said to be gearing up for having it on shelves in August.

Moreover, TELUS is expected to add it to its offering in the not-too-distant future, and was already spotted with the carrier's logo on it a few weeks ago.

The smartphone will arrive on the market with a 3.7-inch touchscreen display on the front, which looks pretty appealing in the video below, that's for sure.

Not to mention that the soft keyboard that RIM has packed it with seems to be working pretty well both in portrait and in landscape mode, as the video shows.

Moreover, the mobile phone was rumored to be on its way to shelves with a 1.2GHz application processor inside, the same as the Bold 9900 handset that went official a few months ago.

The new device would be launched as the direct successor of RIM's storm handsets, and should pack all of the features and capabilities those devices included, along with various enhancements as well.

In addition to the faster processor, it would include more internal memory, a better camera on the back, as well as enhanced connectivity options, along with all of the new features that the BlackBerry OS 7 is set to add into the mix.

Until some official details on the specs, availability and pricing of BlackBerry Torch 9860 emerge, have a look at the video below to see the device in action. (via)
