Canadian wireless carrier Rogers has just made available for purchase on its airwaves a new smarthpone from Research In Motion, namely the BlackBerry Torch 9860.

The handset was expected to make it on the carrier's offering as soon as this week, especially since cases for it were already put for sale a few days go, though the carrier did not offer a specific release date for it at the time.

The new mobile phone was made available for purchase at Rogers with a price tag of $199.99 attached to it with the signing of a 3-year contract agreement.

However, those interested in it will also be able to purchase it with other contract terms as well, including a 2-year deal, with the phone priced at $424.99, or one-year deals, with the device priced at $474.99.

When purchased with monthly deals, the BlackBerry Torch 9860 would cost $474.99, while those who would like to acquire it contract free will have to pay $524.99 for it.

The mobile phone comes with a fast 1.2GHz application processor inside, and with a large 3.7-inch touchscreen display on the front, complemented by a 5.0 MP camera on the back.

The BlackBerry Torch 9860 smartphone fuses all the power of BlackBerry with the thrill of the all-touch, Liquid Graphics design,” the wireless carrier notes on its website.

“So like you, it’s ready to work hard all day and still break free for fun. Reach out and touch your photos, videos, games and apps – all your content comes to life on the new 3.7 inch display, powered by Liquid Graphics, it’s the biggest ever on a BlackBerry smartphone.”

“Inside, the 1.2 GHz processor keeps pace with everything you do. So whether you’re creating opportunities, connections, moments or just a great new playlist, you’ll also be creating the one thing we all strive for – balance.”

The handset comes with 4GB of internal memory, a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth connectivity, and the BlackBerry OS 7.0 on top.
