A new BlackBerry smartphone is set to hit the market in Spain soon, namely the BlackBerry Torch 9860, which was just announced as being on its way to Movistar's airwaves as soon as next week. The new mobile phone comes to the market with the largest touchscreen display any BlackBerry smartphone has to offer, and runs under the new BlackBerry 7 OS from Research In Motion.

The handset packs a 1.2GHz application processor inside, along with the aforementioned 3.7-inch touch screen, and with appealing multimedia capabilities.

The new BlackBerry Torch 9860 comes with a series of optimizations that will make web browsing a great experience while on the go. Moreover, the handset offers powerful gaming features, and appealing communication capabilities.

Movistar announced that the new BlackBerry Torch 9860 is expected to become available on its stores starting with the next week, featuring a price tag that starts at 79 Euros.

The specifications list of the new device also includes 4 GB of on-board memory, complemented by a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

The handset also comes with a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, which features 720p HD video recording capabilities.

Moreover, it has to offer Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth capabilities, as well as Tri-Band HSPA+ and Quad-Band GSM/EDGE connectivity, and built-in GPS.

Measuring 120 x 62 x 11.5 mm and weighing at around 135 grams, the new device packs a 1230 mAh rechargeable battery.

“The new BlackBerry Torch 9860 smartphone also features Liquid Graphics technology, which combines a dedicated high-performance graphics processor with a blazingly fast CPU and stunning high resolution display to deliver a highly responsive touch interface with incredibly fast and smooth graphics,” RIM explains.

Running under BlackBerry 7 OS, the new torch handset also features a new Blackberry Browser, with offers a performance increase of around 40 percent when compared to the previous flavor of the software.
