On Sunday, Sprint has made available for purchase on its airwaves two new handsets from the Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion, namely the BlackBerry Bold 9930 and the BlackBerry Torch 9850.

The new Bold device was made available for $199 on contract at Sprint, while the new Torch 9850 smartphone is listed on the carrier's website for only $149.99 with the signing of a two-year agreement.

This is the latest touchscreen-only device that RIM brings to the market, following the release of Storm and Storm 2, and marks a change in the company's naming scheme for new devices.

The same as some of the other latest BlackBerry smartphones, the BlackBerry Torch 9850 comes with a 1.2GHz application processor inside, and runs under the BlackBerry OS 7.

The new device features a large touchscreen display, along with a nice range of high-end specs aimed at delivering a better experience to users.

“The BlackBerry Torch sports the biggest screen ever on a BlackBerry. And that's just where it starts,” Sprint notes on its website.

“The large 3.7" capacitive touch display is augmented by 3G and Wi-Fi network connectivity – including a 3G Mobile Hotspot, push delivery technology, and a 5.0 MP camera.”

The new Blackberry Torch 9850 also comes with world phone capabilities, as well as with great multimedia features, and improved web browsing functionality.

“The Torch also features BlackBerry 7, the next generation BlackBerry OS, packed with powerful new features and thousands of innovative apps available from BlackBerry App World.”

“When you’re ready to expand your BlackBerry experience even further, the Torch comes ready to use with the new BlackBerry PlayBook tablet, right out of the box.”

The Blackberry Torch 9850 was made available for purchase on Sprint's website here.

Those who would like to purchase the new mobile phone will also find it available at Walmart for only $99, also with the signing of a two-year contract agreement.

The new BlackBerry Bold 9930 was put up for sale through Walmart too, for $199.99 on contract, and can be seen here.
