All seems good so far

Verizon users have been waiting for a long time for the OS 4.7.0.148 update for their BlackBerry Storm to become available, and the wireless carrier has finally released it into the wild, allowing enthusiasts to benefit from all the improvements it can deliver. As such, the company is transforming the Storm into a faster and more responsive device, while also offering a wide range of other fixes and enhancements, such as a much better on-screen keyboard, which works both in landscape and portrait mode.

It seems that the new firmware version can indeed offer users all that they were expecting to get, including a new selection tool, which has been spotted in some of the previously leaked versions as well, and which is meant to provide an easier and faster copy/paste functionality. When a part of the text is selected, a little box appears on the screen, and users can slide it from side to side to make adjustments to the selection. This comes as a great improvement over some of the previous versions that had the box under the fingers, and prevented users from selecting the text accurately.

According to BlackBerry Cool, the new firmware also delivers a much improved camera functionality for the BlackBerry Storm, along with an enhanced camera interface. When a picture is taken, the handset will display a preview of the image and not a white screen as before, which should come in handy, as users will know when they can save the file or when they can take another picture.

The browsing experience on the BlackBerry Storm has been leveraged a little bit too, as not only that it is more stable, but it also includes new features, such as a little green “Go” button meant to help those who have little experience with mobile browsing. In addition, it seems that the browser is a little faster than before, and it can now display images much clearer, while Internet pages look a little better on the Storm than they used to.

Some other improvements are present with the new OS 4.7.0.148 as well, and now users won't have to download a new application to make sure that they wouldn’t press the mute, end or speakerphone button during a call. In addition, it seems that the signal strength indicators are now a little more accurate, while the sound quality during a call has been improved as well. Those who would like to download the software for their handset can find it here.
