In October in the UK, via Vodafone

One of the most expected mobile phones set to be launched on the market during the ongoing year is the BlackBerry Storm 2, the second handset from Research In Motion that will feature a touchscreen display. Already confirmed, the device is expected to bring forth some goodies that haven't been available with the first iteration, including Wi-Fi connectivity, as well as better touchscreen capabilities.

Up until now, no details on when the BlackBerry Storm 2 will come to the market have been unveiled, although previous rumors place its release date anywhere between September and Christmas. Officially, nothing has changed here, though recent reports suggest that the launch time frame has been set for October in the UK, where the phone should arrive via Vodafone, and for November in the US, where the operator should be Verizon.

Two different versions of the device are reportedly heading to the shelves, namely 9550 for the US (which might drop around Black Friday, The BlackBerry Zone notes), and 9520, which is heading towards the UK market. Unfortunately, no details on the pricing of the handset have been unveiled, though it might not be too long before they surface.

As many of you might already know, the original Storm also came to the market around this time last year, which suggests that the new launch date rumors might prove to be true in the end. According to BlackBerry Cool, this also makes sense due to the fact that RIM will try to push as many handsets as possible to catch the “Christmas consumer blitz.”

One way or the other, there are certainly a lot of enthusiasts out there already expecting the BlackBerry Storm 2 to come to the market, especially since the maker promised a touchscreen-enabled phone that would not include the bugs and glitches that the first one did. Hopefully, RIM won't push it back, and users will have the chance to enjoy it sooner rather than later.
