BlackBerry smartphone users have now yet another application available for their devices, namely TiVo, which offers them the possibility to browse, search and schedule recordings of various TV programs on their TiVo DVR straight from the BlackBerry device they carry in their pockets. The new application is available for download at the BlackBerry App World software portal.

“With TiVo for BlackBerry smartphones you can wirelessly access your channel listings and program your favorite shows while on the go with the familiar TiVo look, feel and features that you’ve come to enjoy at home. Whether you’re working late or stuck in commute on your way home from the office, you can quickly and easily search by title, keyword or actor for what you like to watch—maybe it’s the latest news, a season finale, or a movie,” is how the application is described at the storefront.

Basically, it enables users to transform their BlackBerry mobile phone into a remote control, through which they can browse popular shows, daily picks, categories and more. At the same time, it also offers them the possibility to add a show to their calendar so that they are reminded when it will be on. The application also offers an easy-to-navigate menu, along with shortcut keys, so that scheduling recordings is made in a much simpler manner.

For what it's worth, the application seems to be a nice addition into the lineup of software solutions available for BlackBerry users, yet there are some downturns as well. For example, the app came to light one year after it was announced. At the same time, as BGR notes, users won't be able to enjoy video streaming of recorded programs on their handsets, which might have been a really great feature for a lot of users out there. However, the software solution has been released, and BlackBerry smartphone users should head to RIM's software portal to try it out in case they own a TiVo set-top box at home.
