Today, Canadian mobile phone maker BlackBerry officially confirmed the upcoming availability of the BlackBerry Q5 smartphone on the market in the Philippines starting with August 24.

From that day forth, users in the country interested in the purchase of the device will be able to do so at authorized retailers, the company announced.

Furthermore, the handset vendor confirmed that only the Black flavor of the device would become available on that day, yet CrackBerry notes that the White and Red versions should follow suit in the not-too-distant future.

The BlackBerry Q5 smartphone, the third such device to land on shelves with BlackBerry 10 loaded on top, will feature a price tag of PHP 18,690 ($427 / €319) in the country, it seems.

“We are excited to bring the new BlackBerry Q5 smartphone to the Philippines,” Kristian Salvo, country manager for the Philippines at BlackBerry, said.

“The BlackBerry Q5 smartphone offers a great experience to customers who want to have the power of BlackBerry 10 with a QWERTY keyboard in a stylish youthful design, making it easy for them to have fun and stay socially connected with those that matter most to them.”

For those out of the loop, we should note that the BlackBerry Q5 was made official with a 3.1-inch touchscreen display capable of a 720 x 720 pixels resolution, as well as with a QWERTY keyboard to complement it.

Furthermore, the device packs a 1.2 GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor inside, 2GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory, and a microSD memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.

BlackBerry Q5 also sports a 5-megapixel photo snapper on the back, front camera for making video calls, WiFi, Bluetooth, and GPS receiver. It also comes with all the features and capabilities that BlackBerry 10 was launched with.
