Canadian mobile phone maker BlackBerry might not be selling that many smartphones as it once did, but it is still focused on ensuring that its devices pack the best possible quality.

For that, the company has just received the prestigious Red Dot Awards for three of its handsets, namely the BlackBerry Q10, BlackBerry Q5, and BlackBerry Z30 smartphones.

Said three devices have been recognized for their high-design quality, and BlackBerry notes that they have been the top selections among 4,815 entries from 53 countries. A 40-member expert panel evaluated these phones.

“We pride ourselves on industrial design that is simple and intuitive in functionality, while maintaining iconic and familiar elements such as our keyboard and productivity-based user experience,” Brian Paschke, senior industrial designer, Portfolio Direction at BlackBerry, said.

“While our smartphones have evolved over time, we remain focused on being highly detail oriented in order to deliver modern and high quality devices.”

For those out of the loop, we should note that all three smartphones have been available for purchase since last year, with BlackBerry Z30 being the latest flagship device from the mobile phone maker.

However, while this handset sports an all-touch design, the BlackBerry Q10 and Q5 come to the market with QWERTY keyboards accompanying their touchscreens.

All of these phones run under the BlackBerry 10 operating system, the latest mobile platform to have been pushed out by the leading company.

“The BlackBerry Design Team is honored to accept the prestigious Red Dot Product Design Award for the Q10, Q5 and Z30,” said Alison Phillips, managing director of Industrial Design at BlackBerry. “This award is a welcomed addition to the Red Dot Product Design award the team received for the BlackBerry Z10 smartphone last year.”

BlackBerry also announced that the award-winning products from the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2014 will be showcased at the Red Dot Museum.

Apparently, there will be a special exhibition put in place for them and visitors will get the chance to put their hands on said winning BlackBerry devices from July 8 to August 3.

The Red Dot Museum will be home for the largest exhibition of contemporary design in the world this year, as there will be around 2,000 exhibits spread over an area of over 4,000 square meters.

Before the end of this year, BlackBerry will launch a new QWERTY-enabled device, in the form of BlackBerry Passport, which will sport a 4.5-inch 1440 x 1440 pixels screen and top-of-the-line hardware specs.
