BlackBerry PlayBook, the first tablet PC that Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion announced to the world, is set to make an appearance in the company's home market on the airwaves of wireless carrier Bell in the near future.

The device was already announced as being on its way to the market in Canada and in the United States on April 19th, and, as the availability date approaches, carriers and retailer are gearing up for the tablet's launch.

Bell Canada is among those who are gearing up for the release, and it put the new device on a coming soon page on its website, while offering users the possibility to register to receive updates on the availability of the tablet PC.

The PlayBook sports a 7-inch touchscreen display, the new Tablet OS from RIM (based on QNX), and a dual-core application processor inside.

“The BlackBerry PlayBook tablet comes equipped with a dual-core processor and Flash 10.1, for rocking the web, games and videos,” Bell notes on its website.

“Plus, it’s got a front & rear-facing camera, HDMI output and 1080p HD video capture, so you can record and play back stunning HD video on your HDTV. Best of all, the PlayBook has multi-tasking abilities so you can do all this and more as you switch between applications with great ease and speed.”

The new device also comes with WiFi connectivity (RIM promised the launch of 3G-enabled and Wi-Fi-only flavors, as well as of 4G-enabled models), as well as with Bluetooth capabilities, and built-in GPS receiver.

As stated above, the tablet comes with a dual-core processor inside, complemented by a various amounts of internal memory, with price tags ranging accordingly.

The 16GB PlayBook with Wi-Fi is priced at $499.99, the 32GB flavor of the tablet PC with Wi-Fi goes for $599.99, while the 64GB PlayBook with Wi-Fi should cost $699.99.
