Not so long ago I told you the BlackBerry Bridge app had received an update, thus showing us the BlackBerry Playbook tablet hasn't been forgotten and the company is still actively working on Playbook OS updates.

Now Crackberry reports a newOS update has been made available for download on the forums. The new build goes by the name OS 2.1.0.1917 (it’s a 177MB download), but apparently it doesn't bring any major improvements to the table.

Nevertheless, it goes on to update a lot of system files as well as the Adobe Flash Player version and Adobe AIR.

So now, instead of Flash Player v11.1.121.78, users who install the new build will be advanced onto version 11.1.128.80.

Adobe AIR goes from 3.1.0.78 to v3.1.0.80, which means users should experience increased compatibility with some websites. On top of that, security holes in the Flash are now supposed to be covered.

To take advantage of the update, users should visit the settings section on the Playbook and update directly from there.

Remember that in a recent poll, it was discovered that 60% of Playbook users still actively rely on their tablets, so software updates are a nice touch, no matter how tiny they are.
