Australian wireless services provider Vodafone has just added to its offering a new tablet PC, one that comes from Canadian handset vendor Research In Motion, namely the BlackBerry PlayBook.

The new device was made available for purchase via the wireless carrier's stores around the country, though not all locations will have it for the time being.

“The BlackBerry PlayBook Tablet will be available to purchase from today. Not all stores will stock the PlayBook,” the wireless carrier notes in a blog post on Wednesday June 29, 2011.

There, those interested in the purchase of this tablet PC will also find a list of all locations that already have the BlackBerry PlayBook in stock.

“To celebrate the launch of the BlackBerry PlayBook, Vodafone is offering some amazing value bundle offers too good to resist,” the carrier also announced.

Vodafone customers will be able to purchase the BlackBerry PlayBook along with the BlackBerry Bold 9780 for only $59 per month upon the signing of a 24-month contract on the Vodafone’s $49 Cap Plan.

Another option that the wireless carrier put in place includes the BlackBerry PlayBook and the BlackBerry Bold 9780 for $75 per month on a 24-month contract on the $65 Infinite Plan.

The BlackBerry PlayBook comes with a 7-inch touchscreen display, with a dual-core application processor clocked in at 1GHz, 1GB RAM memory and 16GB Flash, and with WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity capabilities, as well as built-in GPS receiver.

The tablet PC also includes a 5.0-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with support for 1080p HD video recording, complemented by a 3.0 MP camera on the front for video calling.

“It offers cutting-edge hardware features, one of the world’s most robust and flexible operating systems and true multi-tasking,” Adele Beachley, Managing Director for RIM, Australia, stated.

“This is a tablet that is powerful and secure enough to be used with ease both for business and for the rest of your life.”
