The company has been rumored to be considering dropping out of the tablet business

Still mulling over which tablet to get for Black Friday? Amazon offers all kinds of discounts in this category, but one in particular stood out.

We’re talking about the BlackBerry PlayBook with 64GB. Originally, the product had a massive $699 / €514 price tag attached to it. But if you decide that the BlackBerry tablet might make for a worthy companion, Amazon will give it away for just $170 / €125 (making this a huge 76% discount.)

Shoppers can take advantage of the offer until December 2, so you better hurry. In all honesty, we can’t understand why BlackBerry was selling the slate for such an absurd amount of money in the past.

The PlayBook doesn't offer anything revolutionary to justify the price tag (except maybe for the 64GB of storage.) The slate features a 7-inch display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. It’s powered by a 1GHz ARM dual-core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM.

The company boasts that the tablet is perfect for “uncompromised web browsing,” multi-tasking and streaming multimedia. However, note that the overall experience is diluted because users will have to make-do with the BlackBerry tablet OS here, so there’s no Play store or other Google related services. Is the affordable price tag worth taking the plunge?
