Mobile phone carrier Verizon Wireless announced a while ago that it would introduce the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 during the summer, as it seems that the device is already available for purchase on the company's website. Big Red also has the handheld available at its retail locations, so it can be acquired from there as well. Those who would like to enjoy the new BlackBerry mobile phone on the company's airwaves should know that its price is lower than originally expected.

When announcing the upcoming availability of the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230, Verizon stated that the price of the handheld had been set at $129.99 upon the signing of a new two-year contract agreement and after a $70 mail-in rebate. Currently, the device is available on the company's website at $79.99 on a two-year contract and after the rebate, which means that the carrier includes the new phone on a $50 price drop that was announced along with the ending of the BOGO (Buy One Get One) promotion for its BlackBerries.

The specifications list of the phone should be known by now, yet we'll mention some of the goodies that the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 comes with, including the Dual–band 800/1900 Mhz 1x EV–DO Rev. O connectivity support, as well as the 2.4-inch internal display that boats a 240 x 320-pixel resolution and support for 65k color (a 1.6" external display is also present), a 2.0-megapixel photo snapper with video recording capabilities, or the SureType QWERTY keyboard.

Also, the device features Bluetooth connectivity, a microSD memory card slot for additional storage space with support for up to 16GB on a single card, support for Visual Voice Mail, HTML Browser, Roxio Media Player, Trackball navigation, 3.5mm jack, support for Text, Picture, Video and Instant Messaging, as well as for VZ Navigator and Mobile Broadband Connect. The new BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 can be seen on Verizon's website here.
