The update has been resumed but it’s going out slower

Last week, BlackBerry started the official roll-out for its latest operating system version 10.3.1, making it available for a slew of devices including the BlackBerry Passport, Z30, Z3, Z10, Q10 and Q5, as well as for the Porsche Design P’9983 and P’9982.

But just a few days after the much-awaited update, which brings a whole host of improvements to the table, went live, the company was forced to halt operations due to a problem that arose for owners of the BlackBerry Passport.

BlackBerry Passport is faced with some issues on the new build

It appears that many users rocking the company’s new flagship have been complaining of flickering screens after updating to 10.3.1.

BlackBerry’s own product manager Michael Clewley took to Twitter to announce that the issue is currently being tested and the roll-out of BlackBerry 10.3.1 has already resumed in some parts, but they are proceeding with caution and things are going slow, so users need to be patient.

While we wait on the update to start making its way into the wild, Clewley suggests affected Passport uses might try to perform a daily reset in order to reduce its incidence. Meaning that the flickering won’t permanently go away.

As for the other phones included in the roll-out, no mentions were made in relation to the flickering issues.

Apart from this particular inconvenience, Clewley also says some users have been drawing attention towards low volume of ringtones on the BlackBerry Q10. As a possible fix, he suggests owners override profile voile and then try to increase the volume.

Have you updated your BlackBerry yet?

The BlackBerry 10.3.1 update was very much anticipated by users because it comes packed with a lot of goodies.

For starters, the new build offers access to BlackBerry World which is a portal that houses important business and productivity apps. It also permits BlackBerry owners to tap into the Amazon Appstore, where they can download the most popular Android apps.

Another important feature is the addition of the BlackBerry Assistant. This is the company’s first virtual assistant who can be used to command actions related to emails, contact, calendar and other native BlackBerry applications.
