Today, mobile phone carrier Verizon is set to kick off the deployment of the BlackBerry OS 10.2.1 update for the owners of BlackBerry 10 smartphones, a leaked roadmap reportedly unveils.

Apparently, the all-touch BlackBerry Z10 smartphone will be the first to receive it, starting today, January 28, at 8am EST.

Next in line is the Verizon BlackBerry Q10, which will be upgraded to the new firmware version starting with February 4, while the BlackBerry Z30 won’t be updated until February 10, it seems.

Furthermore, the aforementioned roadmap, which emerged over at N4BB, unveils that AT&T’s BlackBerry Z10 and Q10 customers will start receiving the new software on February 10 as well.

T-Mobile and Sprint will also take a swing at it, the former sometime in mid-February (anywhere between February 10 and 20), while the latter only towards the end of the month.

Basically, the plan is to have all BlackBerry 10 devices available through major wireless carriers in the United States updated to OS 10.2.1 before the end of the next month, it seems.

However, it should be noted that the aforementioned release dates are only tentative timeframes, and that changes in this roadmap could emerge.

On the other hand, this is not the first time that we hear about BlackBerry’s plans to start deploying the new build on January 28, and things might pan out, at least when it comes to Verizon’s customers.

Not to mention that the wireless carrier actually started to deploy the update to some of its users several days ago, though it was only a small rollout destined for testing purposes.

As N4BB notes, carriers in the United States actually skipped the BlackBerry 10.2 update and went straight for the 10.2.1 firmware, but the good news is that they will release the latter soon. Keep an eye on this space for updates on the matter.
