Owners of BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha devices might be happy to learn that new operating system releases are set to arrive on their handsets in the not too distant future, and that one of them has already leaked online, namely OS 10.0.10.648.

According to a recent post on CrackBerry, the new platform release can be installed on BlackBerry 10 Dev Alpha and STL100-1 models, and users should head over to Settings > About to make sure that their devices will support it.

The new platform release does not arrive on smartphones via official channels, which means that users will have to install it via a Windows PC.

It is recommended to wait for an official update to be delivered to these handsets, yet those who don’t want to wait can already find said platform version up for download.
