The Boy Genius Report claims RIM is on track to give Mac owners and BlackBerry users a brand-new BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac come September 25th. The BGR is a generally reliable source of (this kind of) rumors, while a beta version of the tool has been available for download since September 4th.

The report in question says, “We just got a heads up from one of our trusty ninjas and they’ve informed us that, yes finally, BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac will launch September 25th. While we haven’t confirmed this with other sources just yet, we’d put this high on the probability meter seeing as how the latest build is running beautifully,” referring to the beta BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac leaked earlier this month. Adding that RIM had actually (officially) announced the September release of BlackBerry Desktop Software, this rumor was confirmed even before it was out.

Reported by CrackBerry.com at the beginning of September, BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac users had been leaked to the Internet. Citing “the Twittersphere,” 9to5mac claimed that the Blackberry Desktop Manager communicated with RIM, sending user-related info. Users of the final version of the manager will be able to “install new software, games, and more,” according to RIM.

“BlackBerry Desktop Software will offer the best of both worlds by allowing you to manage aspects of your BlackBerry smartphone from your Mac,” Research In Motion adds, and is encouraging visitors to sign up now and be the first to know when the piece of software is (officially) available.

Until BlackBerry Desktop Manager is released in its final form, BlackBerry owners and users of a Mac can also download and use PocketMac for BlackBerry. Now at version 4.1.25, the tool allows one to sync their BlackBerry handheld with their Mac (supporting sync with Entourage, Address Book, iCal, Now Contact, Now Up-To-Date, and even Stickies). The tool is also fully integrated with the Apple iSync application.
