Canadian mobile phone maker Research In Motion has just made available for download the BlackBerry Java SDK v7.0 in a beta flavor, to ramp up the building of applications for the newly unveiled BlackBerry OS 7.

The mobile phone maker unveiled the new BlackBerry OS 7 during the BlackBerry World conference in early May, and now it made available for download the necessary tools for those interested in coming up with applications for the platform.

The SDK would also offer developers of existing BlackBerry applications to test their software against the new platform release, so as to make sure that they will get along just fine when the latter would be released on shelves.

“This new version of the SDK also comes with simulators for the new BlackBerry Bold 9900 series of smartphones, allowing you to test your applications against the latest and greatest,” a recent post on RIM's blog reads.

“With the new BlackBerry Bold 9900 smartphone and BlackBerry Bold 9930 smartphone on their way, you will have the tools you need to make sure your apps are running on these smartphones at launch.

“What’s more, the BlackBerry App World storefront is also accepting app submissions for these new devices! You now have the chance to be among the first to have your application submitted and ready for these exciting new products.”

Developers should also know that the BlackBerry Java Plug-in for Eclipse and the BlackBerry Java Development Environment have been upgraded as well, so as to offer enhanced support for the new OS flavor, with a great deal of new APIs included into the mix.

Those who would like to learn more info on the new BlackBerry Java SDK v7.0 beta should head over to the BlackBerry 7 landing page on BlackBerry Developer Zone.

RIM also notes that “the BlackBerry Java SDK v7.0 beta is only available through the BlackBerry Java Plug-in for Eclipse update site.”

To use the website, one would have to install the BlackBerry Java Plug-in for Eclipse v1.3, which is available for download from Softpedia via this link. Additional info on how to download and install the BlackBerry Java SDK v7.0 beta can be found here.
