Research in Motion just went official with its latest QWERTY Blackberry device, the Curve 8520, and T-Mobile also announced the addition of the handset to its offering. While it will become available for T-Mobile's customers starting August 5, just as previously expected, the BlackBerry Gemini will reportedly sport a price tag of $130 with the carrier.

For what it's worth, although it comes as a mid-level handset, the BlackBerry Curve 8520 still features a lot of capabilities meant to attract users on its side, including email and messaging (IM, SMS, MMS) capabilities, as well as connectivity to popular social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace. In addition, customers will also enjoy rich multimedia capabilities, such as music player or games, as well as other entertainment applications.

“More and more cell phone users are choosing to upgrade to a smartphone and the new BlackBerry Curve 8520 will undoubtedly convince many more people to make the switch. It delivers all the great messaging, social networking and multimedia features that have made BlackBerry the top-selling smartphone brand in the United States,” said Carlo Chiarello, vice president, product management, Research In Motion. “T-Mobile customers are going to love how easy it is to keep in touch on Facebook and MySpace and the full-QWERTY keyboard is amazingly fast and comfortable for typing on the go.”

Some of the key features that the BlackBerry Curve 8520 will come towards users with include a touch-sensitive optical trackpad, a 512Mhz next-generation processor, media player for music, pictures and videos, coupled with dedicated media keys and a 3.5 mm stereo headset jack, support for BlackBerry App World, as well as for BlackBerry Internet Service with access to up to 10 email accounts (Yahoo!, Windows Live Hotmail, AOL Gmail and others), and for BlackBerry Enterprise Server, not to mention microSD/SDHC memory card slot with support for up to 32GB of additional storage space.
