The desktop management software was, indeed, due in September, but not like this

As Research in Motion (RIM) is getting ready for the official release of BlackBerry Desktop Software for Mac, the management tool has already been leaked to the web. “BlackBerry_Desktop_Manager_english language.dmg” is freely available for download via file-sharing sites like MegaUpload and RapidShare. The DMG file contains both the application installer, as well as a tool to uninstall BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac.

RIM has recently announced that BlackBerry Desktop Software is coming to Mac in September. “With BlackBerry Desktop Software you'll be able sync your iTunes playlists and personal information like contacts, tasks and appointments,” the company states on its website.

Additionally, users of the manager will be able to “install new software, games, and more. BlackBerry Desktop Software will offer the best of both worlds by allowing you to manage aspects of your BlackBerry® smartphone from your Mac,” according to RIM, which is encouraging visitors to sign up now and be the first to know when the piece of software is (officially) available.

Confirmed by CrackBerry.com, BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac users has been leaked to the Internet. The 1.0.0 beta piece of software is prone to buggy behavior. Citing “the Twittersphere,” 9to5mac claims that the Blackberry Desktop Manager communicates with RIM, sending user-related info, so you'd better think twice before downloading and using the app right now.

In the meanwhile, BlackBerry owners and users of a Mac can also download and use PocketMac for BlackBerry. Now at version 4.1.25, the tool allows you to sync your BlackBerry handheld with your Mac (supporting sync with Entourage, Address Book, iCal, Now Contact, Now Up-To-Date, and even Stickies). The tool is also fully integrated with the Apple iSync application.

Softpedia doesn't encourage downloading non-official, pirated software via file-sharing / torrent sites. This article has a purely informational purpose and doesn't, in any way, suggest that Mac users should go forth with downloading the BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac currently hosted on file-sharing / torrent websites.
