Wireless carrier Orange announced recently that it planned to offer the BlackBerry Curve 8900 mobile phone on a Pay As You Go plan. The operator launched the Pay As You Go program for the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 at the beginning of the ongoing year, and it seems that it was successful enough to make it add a new RIM handset into the offering.

According to Orange, users who would like to purchase the BlackBerry Curve 8900 with the new plan the company is offering will also benefit from six months of free Internet access that the handset comes with. All they have to do it acquire the handset, which features a price tag of £245 (around $400), and then opt for one of Orange’s existing Pay As You Go packages.

After the six-month period of free Internet access is over, users will be able to choose Orange’s Pay As You Go BlackBerry Internet Service for £5 per month. All in all, the offer does not sound too bad, as users will get both a nice mobile phone and the chance to enjoy free Internet on it for half a year. However, it remains to be seen whether this offer proves to be as successful as the previous one.

In related news, we learn that some of the mobile phone users in the United States now have the chance to win a free BlackBerry Curve 8900 from the Weather Channel, in a promotion that lasts for the entire month of June. One free handset will be given away each day for the rest of the month, so those who would like to grab one now have the biggest chance to do it.

All that users will have to do, it seems, is to enter their email address from their BlackBerry browser and then re-enter it from the Internet browser on their desktop. All users who reside in the US and District of Columbia can benefit from the contest offer, which will end on June 30, 2009. Unfortunately, there are no details on the airwaves of which carrier the handset will work.
